Almay Truly Lasting Color Foundation in Naked Review

Do you have problems with short lasting foundation that tends to get cakey at the end of the day? Are you also not completely sure if you'd like to try out several foundations to see which one would fit your skin cause you have sensitive and acne prone skin? Well, then we have the same issues. I've used bb cream for the longest time because it's really practical and easy to apply. But I noticed that some bb creams break me out and can't handle my oiliness during the most humid day. I decided to give foundation a try after what feels like years. Honestly I don't really like having foundation on my face cause the last foundation I had (Revlon and Kose) made my face so tight and dry that I stopped using them. Then I heard about Almay. This may sound funny but the one who introduced me to Almay is actually my boyfriend. You must have this o_O expression I know haha. But he's like my bestie who I tend to whine and nag and vent about anything with, including my makeup and skin issues, yes. Then his female coworkers recommend this product for me (through him). Okay moving on.

Almay is a cosmetic brand you can find in your local drugstores but it is well known for its hypoallergenic products. It claims to be "16 hour makeup". Who doesn't love drugstore makeup that actually works, right? But too bad it's not available yet in Asia yet (from what I know) so I had to order from cause I refused to wait until my boyfriend visits me next month to get this foundation. I was so happy when I got this after two weeks of waiting. Okay enough babbling and let's see what it does and looks like.

Almay Truly Lasting Color Foundation 16 Hour Makeup SPF 15

What it claims to do:

  • nourishes and protects skin for 16 hours
  • won't rub off (even in heat and humidity)
  • looks freshly applied all day
  • infused with vitamins and antioxidants
  • hypoallergenic & won't clog pores
  • oil free

Excuse my rilakkuma coffee bottle box, I didn't remember why it was there

It doesn't come in a box whatsoever, just the foundation bottle. In the back label, it says what it does as seen in the picture above. Helps nourish and protect skin for 16 hours, looks freshly applied all day, hypoallergenic, won't clog pores, and oil free. In a second we will see if it does what it says.

Packaging is nice. It comes in a pump dispenser, absolutely easy to pump but it could be better. Somehow I still like korean products pumps more than this one, but it is still okay, pretty hygienic with the plastic cap. It's kind of small, well it's 30ml so it fits right in my makeup pouch.

It's not very thick and not so liquid-y. What I like is it is very easy to blend, especially if you apply face primer or makeup base before this foundation. It is very pigmented, so if you get the shade wrong, it can be terrible. I got lucky I got this shade which apparently fits my skintone. This foundation also brightens my skin.

Shades from left to right: Buff 02 140, Ivory 01 120, Neutral 04 220, Sand 06 260, Naked 03 160

Unfortunately, coverage is light to medium, which isn't what I want. But put second layer and dab on your blemishes, and it'll help covering them. It doesn't completely poof but it makes it less obvious. You have to use concealer if you want maximum blemishes coverage :) But it does cover my redness pretty well.

Long Lasting Power & Oil Control

It stays for long hours. It's also waterproof! Once I got soaked in the rain for more than 30 minutes and when I came home, my face was still fine, no melting and it didn't wash off. The only way to wash it off completely is with facial foam and oil cleanser. I'm still wearing the foundation as I type this up, and it's been 12 hours since I applied it this morning. Yes, I feel a little greasy but I must be honest this is the best drugstore foundation I've used so far. While my T-zone area still gets oily, but it's nothing major. So oil control is great. And if I set it with translucent loose powder, I don't see any shine until 6-7 hours later while usually I see the shine after 3-4 hours. Yes, my oily area is that bad. So I must say this is really good and I've been wearing this foundation ever since I got it a month ago.

It claims to be hypoallergenic and though I don't know what it means at first (I had to ask my bf) but now that it's been a month, I must say I still have breakouts but it's really minor and can be covered up easily. They're healed too now and since my skin is pretty sensitive so I think whatever products I use I'll still have breakouts but so far, the breakouts I have are way lesser than other bb creams/foundation I've tried before. If I have to use a word to describe this foundation to my skin, it would be: mild.

- Long lasting (up to 12 hours and more)
- Gives dewy finish
- Great oil control
- Contains lemon extract, green tea, and vit E so it brightens the skin
- Hypoallergenic
- Easy to apply

- Light coverage
- Light SPF
- Not available in Asia

I love this foundation! Do I need to say more? But it might not be the right foundation if you have dry skin. While it doesn't give matte look I wanted, but it gives slight healthy glow so I'm not complaining. I love its staying power too, obviously cause I work long hours and I don't really like nor have time to reapply foundation or powder. So this comes in handy. It makes my skin feel smoother as well. And there's not a day without applying this foundation before I go out.

You can find this foundation on any drugstores like Walgreen, Rite Aid, etc or you can get it on for $12.49 (excluding shipping fee).
